Different experiments concerning shape and vibration control are conducted using an active beam made out of spring band steel. Two piezoelectric ceramics are attached to the beam, where one ceramic is used as a sensor, the other as an actuator.
Active beam made out of spring band steel with 2 ceramics attached to the surface. The beam is used for shape and vibration control.
Result of a quasi static experiment, where the tip deflection of the beam is recorded over the actuator driving voltage.
Result of an experiment concerning active vibration control. The vibration of the beam is acquired with a piezoceramic sensor and the control signal for the actuator is calculated using a constant gain negativ velocity feedback control. The difference between the natural and active damping is obvious.
