  • Review of continuum mechanics basics and tensor calculus, kinematic and balance relations 
  • Constitutive models of plastic deformation and material properties  
  • Boundary conditions: e.g. friction and lubrication, heat transfer, applied loading 
  • Analytical methods in forming: e.g. Slab analysis, upper bound method, slip line field analysis 
  • Numerical methods in forming: e.g. finite element method, finite difference method 
  • Modelling of industrial forming processes demonstrated by examples 
  • Ongoing research questions in metal forming 9. Case study e.g. high-speed forming
