Failure of Structures and Structural Elements
Failure of Structures and Structural Elementsmainly deals with what are the physical effects leading to the failure of mechanical systems. The course model the phenomenon of fracture and to determine critical loads for crack propagation. Moreover, it introduces the student to the notion of failure with respect to the functional requirements of mechanical elements. Students also exposed to the essential types of failure, and the mathematical means how to describe their occurrence. Exercises are integrated into the lecture so that students work individually or in groups on exemplary examples.
